"Flat Planet" :- When you sit and look out over a scene like this it's hard to get your head around the fact that we are all on this huge rotating globe that orbits along with other huge rotating globes around an even bigger globe that's constantly on fire. Mind boggling isn't it. We are travelling (approx) at 29.8 km/s (18.51 m/s) which works out at 107,000 km/h (66486.7 m/h) through space and yet we can sit on a beach with a calm and serene sea and feel no movement at all. When I captured this image from Brighton beach (UK) I could see why certain people regarded the earth as being flat...just one enormous plane.
"35" :- This is the main entrance / hallway door to a friend's apartment / flat somewhere in Hove on the south coast of England. Apparently the building used to be a hotel in the 20's and 30's but has been converted into private apartments. If you go up a floor the connecting corridor is still there which runs into the building next door. The door's very unattractive with it's peeling painted over glass panels but I knew it would make for a great image.
"Shielded from the Sun" :- The city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand is positively festooned with ancient Buddhist Temples (Wats). Most of them date back to 1296 which was the year that the city was first founded. There are over 200 Temples in and around the city and each and every one is still in use on a daily basis. This image was captured in the grounds of Wat Mahawan situated on Thapae Road. The temple looks very different compared to others in the area because it's walls, statues and other structures have all been whitewashed. The Chedi within the temple was designed by Shan and Burmese artisans.
